Today’s news has Google working on a phone that translates spoken languages in realtime. Done with accuracy, that could indeed by the Holy Grail of social media, opening up the entire world for collaboration. Google says it is a “couple of years” away.
The technical challenges here would be steep. Many have tried this and failed in the past, but it is a hill worth climbing yet again.
The possibilities are interesting indeed here. Imagine the phone learning the context of your conversations and offering information to you based on your conversations.
